Do you want an easy snack to make for the whole family? For under $20 you can create a sweet crunchy snack in just a few minutes purchasing the ingredients at your local grocery store.
The chocolate topping is optional (step 3), I personally don’t add it and the mix still tastes great. The actual recipe is listed below as well as a link to the recipe from Chex cereal. My nieces and nephews give this a two thumbs up.
Ingredients
| 3/4 | cup packed brown sugar |
| 6 | tablespoons butter or margarine |
| 3 | tablespoons light corn syrup |
| 1/4 | teaspoon baking soda |
| 4 | cups Corn Chex cereal |
| 4 | cups Rice Chex cereal |
| 1/4 | cup semisweet chocolate chips |
Step 1 Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper. In large microwavable bowl, microwave brown sugar, butter and corn syrup uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until melted and smooth. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Stir in cereals.
Step 2 Microwave on High 3 minutes, stirring each minute. Spread on cookie sheet to cool, about 10 minutes. Break into bite-size pieces.
Step 3 In microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips uncovered on High about 1 minute 30 seconds or until chocolate can be stirred smooth (bowl will be hot). Drizzle chocolate over snack. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set.
