Billy Ray Cyrus & Hellmann’s Team Up To Aide Feeding America Charity With “Swap ‘N’ Share” Program
Billy Ray Cyrus came out to New York City on Thursday to support a very worthy cause that we can all participate in. Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity, feeding over 25 million Americans each year. To help keep this fantastic program going, Hellmann’s is making generous donations with a little help from us. All we have to do is visit Facebook.com/Hellmanns and create a virtual sandwich on the site. For every virtual sandwich created, Hellmann’s will donate 7 lunches to Feeding America. By creating the sandwich, you are automatically entered into a contest with a chance to win a $250 grocery store gift certificate.
For every friend on Facebook you refer, an additional 7 lunches will be provided. With minimal effort, we can help fight domestic hunger without even reaching into our wallets. For fans, there is also an auction on eBay to swap a real sandwich with Billy Ray Cyrus backstage just before his concert in Niceville, Florida, that will also benefit Feeding America.
A truly down-to-earth gentlemen, Billy Ray Cyrus spent a few minutes speaking with us about this worthy cause and his professional ventures. As soon as he heard I was a writer from imnotobsessed.com, he glowed up and said, “Hey! Doesn’t Miley have a song on her album called “Obsessed”?” Just like any parent with a wallet size photo of their child, you can tell Billy Ray has a lot of pride in his children. He also gives off a warm and gracious presence, without the slightest hint of pretension.
On why he teamed up with Hellmann’s for this cause:
“I am so honored that Hellmann’s asked me to be part of this great project. You can’t find a bigger sandwich fan than me- I’m just a real food, real sandwich man. The best part of the whole program is that we’ll hopefully inspire folks to join the effort to end hunger by supporting Feeding America; I can’t think of a more worthy cause,” said Cyrus. “Hungry people are the reason I’m doing this, and I’m just so happy to give back.”
On whether or not he feels his musical roots has influenced his children who have pursued the music industry as well:
“I think they’re doing their own thing. But my family is passionate about music, and that seems to be something that just runs in us. I’m not sure that I’m the reason for it though.
On a possible duet in the future with Miley or Trace:
“It’s always possible. A lot of people don’t know this, but I made a cameo in my son Trace’s band (Metro Station) video for “Seventeen Forever”. He was also in mine for “Somebody Said a Prayer””.
On his latest (and eleventh!) album:
“I think “Back to Tennessee” is one of the most autobiographical songs I’ve ever written. It really shows my roots. I’m real happy with the album and all of my projects right now.”
On advice he has for parents juggling a career and family:
“Never, never, ever give up.” he replied.
