My husband is the KING of finding festivals to visit on the weekends. This isn’t a new thing since the kids have arrived – this has been going on since 1998 when we first started to date. That boy has made me drive up and down the tri-state area hitting up fairs and festivals he’s found during his endless search since the first weekend we got together.
Yesterday, the family took a trip to Oyster Bay (15 minutes from where I live) to attend an ‘Arbor Day’ Fair. It was $15 a car (or $5 a person if you had less than 4 people) and everything inside was free. Tree climbing, petting zoo, face painting, tattoos, character drawings of the kids, a bazillion shows – from magic to puppet to dancing music, arts and crafts and FREE TREES! There were three or four options – naturally I FORGOT to go back and get one. I was so upset!
We forgot our stroller which could have been disastrous because the space was HUGE – but the kids didn’t mind the walk. There was plenty to do along the way.
The best part of the day was when Bill was asked to take part in a magic act. He totally didn’t want to volunteer – but I guess the magician saw that and picked him anyway. I leaped for my camera when he walked up. Then Natalie got picked too which was the highlight of her day!
Overall, we had a really good time. Thank goodness we went yesterday because our original plan was to go today and it’s raining.
