Over the weekend, my family attended a Communion party and both of my children went bananas over the Shirley Temple. I’m telling you… the kids were lined up 10 deep getting refills and stocking up on handfuls of cherries! You’d think it was some sort of narcotic!
Not that I would allow my children to have the original too often (as the real way to mix the drink is with 7UP or Sprite), but I wouldn’t mind letting them have a go at this natural alternative (40 calories a cup):
- Fill two glasses about halfway with ice and put four cherries in each (REAL cherries) – make sure your children are old enough to know to watch out for the pit
- In a pitcher, mix 1 1/2 cups seltzer and 1/4 cup cherry juice
- Pour seltzer mixture into glasses and enjoy!!
