Who Needs A DRINK? I Give You The Bloody Mary


In ‘Get Him To The Greek’ – Jonah Hill and Russell Brand’s characters travel from London to Los Angeles – with wild stops in New York and Las Vegas, with missed flights, beautiful girls, and swigs of absinthe. In the movie, the guys supposedly drink some 19th century absinthe – but did they know that they could get Lucid absinthe which uses the exact recipe from the olden days? FYI – Lucid was the first absinthe to be legally available in America

NYC mixologist, Jonathan Pogash came up with the  cocktail “Aldous Bloody Mary” to celebrate Brand’s character. This cocktail, like the perfect Bloody Mary, promises to lessen your hangover – but with the addition of Lucid all of Jonathan’s goodies, you’ll certainly get a good kick of spice and heat!

Aldous Bloody Mary (created by Jonathan Pogash)

  • 1 oz. LUCID Absinthe
  • 2 oz. Tomato juice
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 pinch horseradish sauce
  • 1 dash Tabasco hot sauce
  • 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash kosher salt
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice


Combine ingredients and marinate for 24 hrs. Then pour over ice into tall glass.
Garnish: Rick’s Picks “Smokra” pickled okra (or any other pickled vegetable)


Lucid Traditional

  • 1 part Lucid absinthe
  • 3 parts ice water
  • sugar cube


Pour Lucid into your glass. Rest the slotted spoon across the rim of the glass and place the sugar cube atop the spoon.
Slowly drip ice-cold water over the sugar cube, dissolving it into the absinthe. The drink is ready once the Lucid has become completely cloudy and opaque.

  1. I believe me and my friends were tricked into drinking Absinthe once! We were staying at this cool inn outside of Salzburg and the bartender served us these glowing green drinks. We acted super crazy that night. I could never handle that now.
