Tis the season for light, breezy tees. Trash and Luxury has the funkiest selection of leggings and stylized tees that are sure to add some edge to your summer wardrobe. No need to stick to washed out whites and kitschy graphics if its not your cup of tea. Designer, Iranian-born Hushi Mortezaie spent a significant junk of his life in NYC, where he was a buyer and stylist for Patricia Field’s store. He drew inspiration from the simplistic art of the late eighties. He moved to LA where his love for all things pop found a home. His collections draw on many geographical influences. Iran’s ancient miniatures, Vegas strip lights and Cali’s suburban pop scene all played crucial roles in the designs that he is known for. An artist at heart, Hushi still takes part in fine arts exhibits.
The silhouette of the season is oversized, with the back of the tank longer than the front and sleeves that are generous to the arms. The raglan sleeve (sleeves with no arm seam) is also making a major comeback. These are not only kind of the hip and butt area, they also mask upper arm flab. The graphics include Indian-inspired faces, Byzantine crosses and Egyptian pyramids. My favorite tank is the Paris Is Burning tee. Designed with a low scooping neckline, the sleeves have cute cut-out detailing that’s an unexpected flash of sexy skin.
