Spa Chakra Rocked My Combination Skin’s World

What a day I had yesterday! My good friends at ideeli launched a new component to their website called ideelACCESS – a new group buying platform that grants ideeli members entrée to irresistible handpicked experiences and offers beyond the site at favorite spots nationwide. You can read more here.

In order to celebrate the launch, they invited several of their favorite fashion and beauty bloggers to receive a facial or a massage at Spa Chakra. I have never heard of the spa… because it’s on 5th Avenue and that’s not how I roll. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!

I had such a wonderful facial that I didn’t even apply makeup once it was done. My skin was calm, less irritated and… happy! During the treatment I learned a few things that I just have to share:

  • Don’t put moisturizer on before you go to sleep unless it’s a night cream (and that’s only for older women). Apparently, I’ve been wrongly applying moisturizer to my face right in the evenings. I would just repeat what I did in the AM. Daytime cream is purposely heavy to block the day’s harsh elements. When you are outside, the cream acts as protection against toxins found in the environment. You don’t need that when you are home! Before you go to sleep, wash your face, use toner and then apply a light serum. Let your skin breathe – oxygen kills toxins.
  • After you exfoliate you must use a mask. When you take away something from your skin you must put something back. I exfoliate twice a week in the shower. I was told to apply a thin mask layer and keep it on for 10 minutes to help stimulate blood circulation.

Two big lessons for me! What is your make up routine?
