Getting Organized: The Laundry Room

I don’t know when it happened but I somehow became a minimalist. It takes every ounce of my energy to STOP myself from running around the house and just throwing everything away. It’s like I’m ready to move on top of some mountain in the Far East and surround myself with just a bed, a table and a bonsai tree.

You ever get to the point when enough is enough? Well I’m there – and I’ve been CRAZY these past few months tackling one project at a time.

The laundry room was my latest victim. Mine is actually not so much a room as it is a really big closet. But even that needed some order. I got rid of everything I didn’t need and organized the rest.

Here are some tips to get you started should you be in the same situation:

For your door consider putting a rack to store fabric softener, dryer sheets, softener balls and Tide pens. Prior to purchasing one I had everything on top of my washer!! I also now keep my Swifter supplies in this rack.

Another thing I’m loving these days is the extra space that’s available on the bottom of my Frigidaire washer and dryer. I store my bleach and over-sized detergents that I purchase at wholesale stores and no longer have to look at them each time I head in to do a new load.

If you actually iron in your laundry room you can add a shirt rack to your wall. When you pull the shirts out of the dryer  you can hang them on the rack until you are ready. This will minimize he amount of wrinkles you have to deal with.

Do you have any tips for the laundry room? Would love to hear them!

I wrote this review while participating in a Test Drive Campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Frigidaire and received a Frigidaire Washer/Dryer set to facilitate my review.”

My tip: buy an over the door hook (no installation required and they make them so you can still shut the door completely). When you wash your delicate laundry, these hooks come in handy for hanging items that can’t be put in the dryer.

Also, we live in a 75 yr old house w/teeny-tiny closets – I use these hooks on the inside of each closet door for additional storage. You would be shocked at how small these closets are….I love old homes, but the lack of storage space is challenging.
