Travel Tip Tuesday: Chic Carry On Luggage

This year U.S. airlines collected $2.56 billion in baggage fees. When I first read that stat, I nearly dropped to the floor. I, of course, contributed pretty heavily to that fee and am now on a MISSION to avoid charges at all costs. Well, that is when I’m NOT traveling with the kids. You can’t avoid over-packing with them. I’m not going to do laundry in the middle of a trip to Disney. 🙂

So, when you’re traveling alone or for business think CARRY ON BAGS!! It’s the only way to go these days. Oh and here’s a hint: try to get one without wheels!! Sometimes when the flight attendants think the plane is filling up, they will force everyone with wheels to check their baggage. You don’t have to pay the fee, but you do have to wait for your luggage at the end of the flight.

I’ve seen it 3 or 4 times this year alone. ONLY WITH WHEELS. So if you can suck it up I would try to get an over-the-shoulder bag.

Rolling Suitcase (if you need wheels)

Had to include this one because it’s $35!

Do you carry on luggage or do you prefer to check in your bags and have your hands free?

  1. Both. I’m always traveling with my family and if not its with at least one of the kids. I don’t think we do too bad though. 2 carry-on pieces (1 is my laptop) and 3 checked for long trips, 2 checked for shorter.

  2. I have a bag similar to the damask one above but with hot pink print and green trim. It’s too gorgeous to check on an airplane. I’m considering getting some pink carry-ons from CSN with wheels. If they make me gate-check, I’m fine with that as long as it’s free! 🙂 (contest entry)
