Tadashi Shoji S/S 2012 #NYFW
Tadashi Shoji was one of the collections that I was most excited to see this Fashion Week. A Tadashi gown possesses the power to always make the wearer feel like their most gorgeous self, and the Spring/Summer 2012 collection is certainly no exception to this. Inspired by the tulip, the collection was an array of vibrant shades like lavender and green and a rich blend of fabrics in silk, linen, lace and tulle that came together to create the perfect balance of feminine and elegant gowns.
In designer Shoji’s own words:
My inspiration came from a Dutch photographer’s picture of tulips. Rich in color yet delicate in its form, this admired bloom is full of life, incessantly evolving and changing in shape.
The tulip inspiration revealed itself in the tulip shaping of the gowns, floral prints and even floral inspired lace. The effect is a gorgeous ethereal collection of gowns that made the models seem to float and flutter down the runway instead of walk.
