I just started running (and when I say running I really mean walking fast) and have learned a couple of things over the last few weeks. I thought I’d share them with you in case you wanted to take advantage of the awesome weather we’ve been having and get out of the house.
My Top 5 Items You Need To Jumpstart Your Activity:
A good pair of socks. I wear Hanes Comfort Toe Seam socks because they offer up extra cushion for my paws. If I’m really going to be serious about running, I need to make sure that I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about.
A way to track your distance. When I first started to run, I would drive the route to log the distance. Now, I just use “Run Keeper” on my iPhone. If you don’t have an iPhone, there are a TON of other apps that work with other models.
A great sports bra. Sorry, but my breasts seriously need support when I’m active. They HURT if I’m not wearing a sports bra. This one from Champion rocks.
If you sweat – and I hope you do – then consider having detergent that knows how to handle it! Tide Sport works wonders.
The last one is the HARDEST one to have – NO EXCUSES. Walk / Jog / Run at least 3x a week. Consider making it part of your lifestyle. We ALL have 20-30 minutes out the 24 we are given each day. Get up early. Go for a walk after dinner. You have kids at home? Throw them in a stroller (or on their bikes) and take them along with you.
Find friends. Or don’t. I don’t really like going with friends because I’m not ready to keep up with anyone. Do what works best for you. I’m telling you – you won’t regret it.

I agree - No excuses to get running! It's hard to start a running program but once started it's really rewarding. HYDRATION is also very important to every runner.
