My Breast Cancer Awareness Walk With Hanes

Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to have several of my friends over for a little after school party. You see, I’m part of the Hanes Comfort Crew. We brainstormed a bit about what I could do to help raise awareness for breast cancer research and decided on throwing a local walk in my town. Originally, I was supposed to walk with Hanes in NYC, but am unable to make it in that day.

I still wanted to support the cause, so I thought it would be fun to get my friends involved in a smaller function.

Hanes supplied the group with customized t shirts. I had to come up with a witty name for our group… and just couldn’t get it together. So, I opted for the ‘Garden City Pink Ladies’. Hey – it was the best I could do under pressure. :)

Hanes actually makes these shirts all year long! Click here to check out Hanes Pink. For every shirt that is made, Hanes will donate 10% of the retail price to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. The design tool is super easy to use, but if you want to get something pre-made, there’s also a gallery to view filled with options.

The party was right after school, so I had to have snacks for the kids. Luckily, I had a TON of Pop Chips, Wheat Thins and Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice to pass around. There may or may not have been vodka as well… :)

When my friends came, they found their size and threw on the shirts. We got the children situated in the basement with a sitter and got ready for our walk.

Bill was officially the photographer.

Then off we went. Bill followed for a little bit but then headed back in because he had to help the sitter with all our KIDS!

We ended up going to our main street and back and tried to keep to the main roads to maximize exposure. I can’t get over how many people stopped us and asked us what we were doing! :) Lots of fun.

Back inside, we all had some drinks and snacks and caught up with one another. It was a WONDERFUL DAY.

Besides the shirts, Hanes also supplied socks for each of my guests! I was so happy and SO WERE THEY! The socks were a HUGE HIT.

Miraculously, the children all had a great time without burning down my house. There were about 11 of them in my basement! :)

As always, I just want to help Hanes for inspiring me to throw yesterday’s party / walk. We all sat around and discussed how breast cancer has affected our lives and it was sad to see how many were actually impacted.

Join the fight against breast cancer by sending a free virtual Comfort Package to a friend on Facebook. For each new comfort package you create and send, Hanes will donate $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. up to $25,000. Click here to participate!!!!
