How ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Has Changed Me

I just finished the second book of the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ series last night. I’m still not loving the storyline – have to be honest. Though, I did really like the dinner party at the end of the book and what happens before and after. Christian is healing which makes him much more appealing to me.

Either way, I have to finish this series. I bought all three books at once because I was traveling and thought I would want to zip through them one by one. I hardly ever spend money on books. I’m a FREE DOWNLOAD on AMAZON kinda girl.  So, you know this Type A personality needs to check this project off her list in order to be able to move on. SO, I will finish… even if it kills me.

I’ve already discussed my feelings about ’50 Shades of Grey’ in another post, so I won’t repeat myself here. But I did want to write a (mostly ‘tongue in cheek’ ) list highlighting the way this series has changed me.

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 1: Every time I roll my eyes, I now feel like I’m about to get in trouble.

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 2: I will NEVER use the word murmur again. Ever.

In all seriousness, when I read this book and am around my husband I shout the word murmur every time I come across it. Even if we are at the park – I don’t care who else is around. I just want Bill to know how many times I am reading the word murmur in a given sitting. So, everyone is quiet and relaxing and then out of nowhere I shout “MURMUR!” (true story)

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 3: I am now going to invest in a blindfold and an iPod. 🙂 lol! Just teasing… sort of.

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 4: I play with my lips. I bite them, pull at them, feel them. I don’t know why I do it but I do. This reaction is sort of the same thing as the damn eye rolling. I’m now conscious of what I am doing every time I do it. It doesn’t give me a reaction or anything – I am just now AWARE of it more which is annoying.

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 5: I will never think the words “oh my” again.

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 6: I’m going to work on my husband’s frequency at providing compliments. We are failing in this category. I get a compliment if we are going to a wedding or something and I am REALLY dressed up. But on a typical day… not so much. This will change. 🙂 LOL!

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 7: I’ve signed my kids up for piano lessons. I’ve been wanting to do it for some time. When Christian said that he started taking lessons at 6, I realized they weren’t too young to start. I’ve been holding off thinking that I should wait until they were at least 8 or 9. SO, this change is actually a good one.

Fifty Shades of Grey Change 8: I now need to cheat on my husband at least once and find a guy who is completely controlling and commanding. (joking!!!)

Ok – so that’s it! If you read the book, I hope you found humor in some of these “adjustments”. 🙂

Like everyone else, I'm half way through the third book, and had to google 50 shades of grey + murmur. It's driving me nuts. I think it's in ever other paragraph. Get a thesaurus! Also who changes their email subject every time you send an email? I agree...it would be a good drinking game! How many times to they have to reassure each other that they are in love with one another...ugh!

Oh, and I'm adding 'mutter' to the list of annoyances, lol.

Great blog by the way. Xox

This is so funny! I googled the same thing and I've only just started the first book. The over-use of so many words and phrases is so distracting that I've been saying 'murmur' out loud too!! Shouting sounds better though. Oh my! ( :
