Walked Over 4 Miles Yesterday And Lived To Tell The Tale

Over the weekend, I chatted with a friend who is a hardcore runner about my desire to get up and go. But you all know that I’m not in the best shape and every time I try to run… I end up practically having a heart attack.

She said something so simple – “just walk.”  Why am I trying to sprint out the gate here? So, yes. Just walk! HELLO! Don’t you hate when the simplest answer is the right answer and you didn’t think of it on your own??

Yesterday, my husband went to get our kids from his parents’ house and I was home alone. So, I thought that I would go for a walk. It has always been a goal of mine to walk to my town’s Starbucks. And so I made a promise to myself that it would happen. I ended up briskly walking to the library which is just a block further and the back home. I was EXHAUSTED. It was far and I was quietly praying that I would run into someone so they could drive me home. LOL

I did end up running into one of Bill’s friends and I was so tempted to ask him for a ride but then I decided that I needed to walk back. I had to do this  - for myself. Going home was a lot SLOWER than getting there. But it all happened. I think it took me about an hour to do it. I might drive my route today to see the exact milage but my runner friend told me it’s 4 miles from her house which means it’s probably 4.5 from mine.

I’m going again this morning.

It’s free. It’s easy. It makes me feel better about myself. So, why not?

  • Nice! Every bit of any exercise helps the body get into shape. I Truro walk a mile to two miles during lunch but I only get an hr so it’s not much. I did lose 6lbs but i need to lose about 20-30 more! Ugh Goodluck!
