Daily Diary: Natalie’s School Birthday Celebration (And Cupcake Play Date With Her Boyfriend)

Yesterday, we headed into school to celebrate Natalie’s birthday with her class. I’m going away next week and only had a few days to choose from before school ends to schedule it in. Yesterday worked. Liam ran right into her class like he was part of the bunch. It was actually funny. He already knows a lot of the children because of play dates and after school park gatherings. So, right away kids began to call him over. I thought it was so cute.

Natalie wanted ice cream sundaes instead of cupcakes for her birthday celebration. So, we brought Strawberry ice cream, strawberry syrup, sprinkles and whipped cream. The kids were in THEIR GLORY. My daughter was in charge of the syrup. As you can see, she went a little overboard.

The birthday student gets to read 2 books to the class. Natalie chose ‘Elf on the Shelf’ and ‘If You Give a Mouse a Cookie’.

Then we headed home for a cupcake play date with this boy in her grade. We didn’t invite any boys to Natalie’s birthday party and she was devastated about this particular one not being part of the festivities. I told her she could have him over after school to share a cupcake. The minute I signed him out, the two grabbed hands and began to walk to the car. Naturally, this blogging mom had her camera ready.

Liam and our next door neighbor’s kids were their chaperones. I say this in good fun – believe me it’s all so very innocent. My friend and I sat down in our chairs and chatted for a few hours while the kids went through all of Natalie’s new birthday gifts. They had such a great time. Isn’t this what summer is all about?
