Microsoft Unveils New Back-to-School Products
Summer is almost over, kids. Which means one thing that every boy and girl dreads – it’s time to go back to school. Whether you’re a high schooler or a graduate student, Microsoft might be able to make the transition a little easier with a slew of new products.
Last week, Microsoft unveiled said products at a party, co-hosted by Maxim Magazine, at the Ganesvoort Hotel Park Avenue‘s killer rooftop pool, a space the hotel’s website describes as perfect “for sunbathing and city-escape daydreaming” complete with “a bi-level rooftop bar + lounge wonderland.”
With the Empire State building gleaming behind us, and while one lone weirdo took a dip in the pool, my guest and I checked out the computers, cell phones, video games and software. Now I am an Apple girl and I have been loyal to my Powerbook G4 since 2004, and I honestly was swayed enough by the features of the Toshiba Portege Z830 to consider buying it for myself. Seriously, I am trying to make this thing mine by the end of the week. Clocking in it at under 3 lbs, this is “the world’s lightest 13″ laptop.” And with special technology to make it durable despite its diminutive size, it certainly gives the MacBook Air a run for its money.
Another product that struck us both as worthy of note was the Nokia Lumia 900 Windows phone. With the much revered 4G network at play and a slim, sleek design, the phone also features an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and an incredibly user-friendly home screen that runs on Windows technology (making it compatible with your Portege, were you to get it).
So enjoy the last month of summer and be sure to buckle down, keep those pencils to the paper and ya know, study hard this year. But whether you are working or you are goofing off, Microsoft has a multitude of options to help.
