Want To Start Gardening With The Kids? Check Out Growums Salad Garden Kit (VIDEO)

My kids really don’t eat salad. Sure, they will snack on cucumbers and tomatoes on their own… but not mixed with greens. That’s why I was so intrigued by the concept of Growums!

Growums are themed garden kits that allow children to grow complete gardens and encourage them to eat healthy foods- a vital concern for educators and parents everywhere.

I was thinking having the children actually GROW the vegetables in their own garden might spark some interest in a salad.

I would imagine that they would take some sort of ownership, right? Luckily, the Growums Salad Garden Kit is really easy.

They come with several compartments and seed packs – everything you need to start your salad garden indoors. After a few weeks, you just take the tray outside and plant it in the ground.

Yep. We have peas, carrots, ltuetce, beets, and potatoes from seed that came up. I planted tomatoes, cucumber, peppers (hot sweet), herbs, onions, strawberries and pumpkin from starters and they're hanging in there so far. The tomatoes have a little frost damage, but I think they'll make it. I got almost no cucumbers last year because we had such a late spring/cool summer and I'm hoping for better this year. We're off to a slow, but better start. I do prefer that she washes things that come out of the soil first- like the carrots- since I use steer/chicken poop to fertilize and it grosses me out a bit to eat without washing. I'm not as worried about the peas/beans/tomatoes since they aren't in the ground. Was this answer helpful?

Wow! That's cool. Back when I was a kid, I remember gardening with my mom. It used to be our bonding time.
