Back To Nature At The Brooklyn Grange

Yesterday, I spent the better part of my evening with Back To Nature, kids and chickens, on the rooftop of a building in Queens, surrounded by fresh vegetables and flowers. It was beyond amazing.

Back to Nature wanted to introduce their macaroni and cheese dinners. These aren’t just regular mac and cheese dinners. These are made with no artificial flavors or preservatives. Some of them are certified organic. They also have reduced sodium in them. We got a chance to tour the Brooklyn Grange and learn about all the great programs they have. We had dinner with Back To Nature. There were delicious veges and salads from the garden and Back To Nature’s Crazy Bugs Macaroni and Cheese and Cheddar Elbows Macaroni and Cheese. It was insanely good! I had 3 helpings. I kid you not. It tasted cleaner than regular mac and cheese. That artificial flavor was missing.

Brooklyn Grange runs a CSA, educational programs, they provide vegetables for sale and for high-end cooks, they raise chickens for eggs and they provide a great community space for kids and adults to escape the city life. There was something surreal about seeing the buildings peeking over the edge of the rooftop.

I learned that they didn’t have an elevator when they built the garden on the 7th floor rooftop. They brought the garden up using a crane! Imagine how long that took!!

Back To Nature and the Brooklyn Grange held such a special dinner event, yesterday. It was an immense pleasure to take part in it.

Here are some more beautiful sights from the Brooklyn Grange.
