Get Your Scalp Winter Ready: Great Tips From Dr. Fusco And Clear Scalp And Hair Beauty Therapy #bestofbeauty

It’s officially cold. Ok, we aren’t in the dead of winter yet… but you can see that the environment is slowly making the transition. With each changing season, you should make some adjustments to your skincare routine. Most women do. However, did you know it’s important to take care of your scalp as well? Scalp health is just as important and thanks to Clear Scalp and Hair Beauty Therapy, I had the chance to talk to Dr. Fusco about what we should do to be prepared.

1. Winter is right around the corner and it’s time to start changing our skin / hair routine. Can you offer some tips for the transition?

Dry, cold winter air can dehydrate skin and cause discomfort. For many women, this is a time to start transitioning from lighter facial lotions and serums to richer creams that will help maintain skin’s moisture balance. Applying body moisturizer on a daily basis is also important. The ideal time is to slather it on immediately after getting out of the shower when skin is still slightly damp. By doing so, the lotion seals in moisture efficiently. Winter is also the time to change your haircare habits. If you insist on washing hair each day, try switching showers to the evenings to allow your hair to air dry indoors. This will eliminate the need for scalding blow dryers, which can exacerbate dry scalps.

2. People usually don’t worry about scalp health. They just assume their shampoo is taking care of it. What are some key points we should look out for when purchasing a shampoo / conditioner?

Read the packaging and look for a shampoo and conditioner that is formulated to provide scalp and hair benefits. Many people forget that scalp is skin and needs to be cared for accordingly, in order to maintain beautiful hair. Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy is made with Nutrium 10, and it nourishes the scalp, creating the right foundation for strong, beautiful hair. For winter, try the Moisturizing Dry Scalp Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner.

3. What made you decide to team up with Clear?

I really loved that Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy takes a fresh approach to haircare. For years, women have been treating the wrong ends of their hair. It is so important to think about how you are caring for your scalp since 99 percent of hair’s natural strength and beauty comes from the scalp. Just as good soil is to a tree, a well-nourished scalp is the right foundation for strong, beautiful hair.

4. Any other tips women should know about scalp health and maintenance?

Whatever season we’re in, it is important to protect your scalp from the sun. Even though it may be chilly outside, as long as you see a shadow, you are exposed to UV rays that can cause severe sunburns. If you do not plan to wear a hat during outdoor activities, avoid a deep side part and sweep your hair back into a part-free ponytail instead. Apply an SPF 15 or higher to a cotton swap and dab it around your hairline and on your ears to make sure you have your bases covered.

When washing your hair, think about using the balls of your fingers to gently massage the scalp. Resist any urge to use your fingernails, which will only lead to irritation and could cause flaking.

My scalp gets so dry in the winter. Might have to change up the shampoos!
