The Bluebird Card by American Express and Walmart was a huge help this holiday season. It is hugely convenient and really technologically advanced…all for just about no fees! They say they believe your money is your money, and they actually back that up…big time! It’s so nice to not worry about being nickel and dimed…while also not worrying about being short changed on quality and service. It’s like a throwback to the “old days” where great value and service at a fair price was the norm.

You need to warn people that no Federal Deposits can be deposited into these accounts. What I mean is that any federal monies that you would want deposited into this account will not be accepted. So those on Social Security, Disability, paychecks from the Federal Government and tax refunds will be returned to the Federal Government and then you will have to make “Other Arrangements” to get your money, either in another checking account or paper check. I work for the Federal Government and found out the hard way my pay check was rejected due to coming from the Federal Government. American Express states that they have notices on the accounts website stating this. I have looked for it and never found it. There is nothing in the paperwork that you get when you purchase the card from Walmart on the box or in the packaging material. So someone needs to warn people of this. With tax season starting soon, those using this will not get their refunds, using this provider.

I found out the hard way too that my federal refund cant be put on the card. I will NOT be using this card anymore. It just happened to me and another family member with BlueBird. We are both done!! I will reopen my checking account because this card is just too much hassle!!
