Getting A Fashion Week Mini-Makeover At Caravan Stylist Studio #NYFW

Fashion Week is about…well…fashion. It’s of the utmost importance that, for this week, anyone attending the shows or parties at least attempts to look fashionable. I got some help in this area from the folks at Caravan Stylist Studio. Caravan Stylist Studio is a one-stop shop for celebs and media personalities. Run by Claudine DeSola, Caravan recently (as in 3 weeks ago) took up residence at the delightful Carlton Hotel. It’s the perfect venue. The studio is relaxing and fun. It’s like every girl’s dream dressing room. Celebs can get hair, makeup and their outfit from Caravan. There’s also a full-time beauty expert who provides clients with a host of other complimentary services including mini skincare-spa treatments and nail design. Claudia keeps a bevy of talented designers close by to ensure that celebs get the look they want. Last year, over 2,000 people stopped by. Many of them needed prepping for red carpet events and appearances. Celebs who have visited Caravan include Eve, Giuliana Rancic, Brendan Dooling, Claire Coffee, Valorie Curry, Megan Markle, Sarah Rafferty and many others.

Yesterday, I attended Falguni & Shane, Clover Canyon and Zang Toi. I wanted a hair and makeup look that would last the entire day but also be fun. It was a bit drizzly so straight hair was out of the question. Valerie did my hair and makeup.

I should start by saying that  when most stylists see my explosion of curls, they want to slap a curling iron on this beast and tame the heck out of it. Can I tell you a secret? I kind of love my curls. I love doing new and interesting styles with it. I told Valerie and she was game. I told her to go crazy and do whatever she wanted. It is, after all, Fashion Week. Valerie did a fishtail braid from the back of the my hair to the front and tucked it in with bobby pins. She used a flat iron to tame that section a bit.

Then, she let my curls go free. She scrunched and sprayed til they took on their own personality. Valerie liberally used a Salon Grafix spray to give it hold and volume. I absolutely loved it! I got so many compliments. One of the models at the Clover Canyon show even broke her pose to lean over and tell me she loved my hair.

This is me after the hair, before the makeup. Wait til you see the fun makeup Valerie did!

IMG_2707_600x900I gave her the same instructions for my makeup: Do whatever you want. Crazy, right? She decided on a touch of teal on my eyes and an orangey lip. She used Pop Beauty products, which I love, btw. I have ridiculously oily skin and their products kept it matte and non-shiny for the day.

Here are the products she used.

IMG_2713_600x400Check out this crazy mascara wand from Pop Beauty. Valerie told me that this gets at the tiny lashes so much better. It also lets you control the product and allows you to comb through your lashes.

And here is my AFTER look!

I love how much lift the Salon Grafix spray gave my curls!

A big thank you to Claudine and Valerie for giving me a fabulous start to an exciting day. Um…are you guys available for house calls?

Valerie and I.
