Facebook Help: How To Hide App Updates From Friends

I just learned this a few weeks ago. Been meaning to write this up because it was a game changer for me and I wanted to pass the knowledge along. Thanks to Adam over on DadaRocks.com for the tip!!

Remember when I started to enter sweepstakes while I was on bed rest? I needed something to do with ALL THAT FREE time. Most of the contests required me to enter via Facebook and I didn’t want to annoy all my friends with wall updates. So, I ended up starting a few Facebook profile which was JUST ANOTHER THING TO MANAGE – but I did it to SAVE the sanity of everyone I knew.

Turns out — I didn’t have to do that. If you ever want to play a game, enter a contest, print out a coupon, ETC – but you don’t want to bombard your friends with Facebook wall updates – HERE’S THE TIP OF A LIFETIME:

STEP 1:

Go to the top right corner of Facebook and click on the wheel / flower image. Then hit “privacy setting”.

Step 2: This will bring you to the above screen. Hit apps on the left side. The right side of your screen will populate with all of the apps that you are connected to. Find the app you want to hide from your friends and hit EDIT.

Step 3: Easy enough — Change the setting from PUBLIC to ONLY ME. Holla! That way,  everything that posts automatically from the app will not be seen by anyone but YOU.
