I had the chance to hear Dayna Steele speak during the Disney Social Media Moms conference last month in Disney World and her speech really resonated with me.  Dayna is the author of ‘101 Ways to Rock Your World: Everyday Activities for Success Every Day‘ and last night I found the time to ACTUALLY read her book. As soon as I finished it, I passed it along to my friend’s husband because I knew that he would appreciate the messaging.

Like… as soon as I finished reading it. I think there was 5 minutes between the time I closed the book and the time it took to get the book into his hand.

I also made him blood promise that he would return it to me because I have a few more people on my list that I feel should leaf through the pages.

The premise of the book is simple– 101 easy and quick tips to be successful in business. They are all doable. They are all things you should be doing already AND there is nothing particularly shocking within the pages. But each page was like a slap in the face for me. YES I should be adding one person to my network once a day. YES I should be fluent in what’s happening within my industries. YES I should be accomplishing a big task every 24 hours. But yet… I don’t really check these “To-Dos” off my list, do I?

Screen shot 2013-06-07 at 8.57.04 AMThe pages aren’t meaty. They are concise and to the point. Here’s page 1 and the message hit me loud and clear. Get up early and get going!! Of course it’s simple enough, right?  But 101 basic enough tips really add up to make a lot of sense… and cents.

There’s one tip that I reread about 10 times. Dayna suggested to either throw away, donate or recycle at least 25 things a day from your home. She encouraged her readers to just get rid of the clutter. Stop being ruled by … THINGS. And I wasn’t sure I could do it.  I mean… every single day? 25 things? Forever? REALLY!?

I have to assume that items such as junk mail can make the list. If that’s the case then I am game. But are you? I challenge you for the next week to throw away, recycle or donate 25 things a day.  Then let’s see how we feel after 7 days! Wonder if it’s a habit that we will end up keeping.

Are you game????
