Daily Diary: We’ve Graduated To Solid Foods

We started rice cereal folks! Where did the time go? I cannot believe it. And Caleb took right to it thank goodness. My other children started rice cereal at 3 months. But the rules have changed over the last 6 years. Now, doctors recommended that we wait until the 5 month mark before introducing rice cereal.

Once we hit the mark, we brought out our Snugli high chair and got the camera ready.

There’s something different about baby number three. With the first two, I was so careful about the mess. I didn’t want to have to clean up more than I had to. NOW – forget it!! I think it’s adorable. Maybe because I know he is my last. Everything is just that much sweeter.

Wonder how much bigger those cheeks can get? 🙂

  1. My little one is 4mths as well and I just started her on rice cereal 3 days ago-they say it depends on your baby-if your baby can sit well on his own or with little support, if she follows food or opens her mouth for food and closes her lips over a spoon, basically if you think she’s ready she probably is. If you start her and its not going well or your baby seems uninterested just wait a week or two and try reintroducing it. Just start slow-I’m probably going to keep mine on rice cereal just once a day for a least a week or two then try a barley or oatmeal. I figure if I start her slowly now by the time she’s 6 months she’ll be ready for more of the mixed cereals and so on. Mine was breastfed for only 2 weeks then straight to the bottle so I don’t have any suggestions for that, but good luck with everything.
