Dining At The Chef’s Table: The Garden City Hotel

Oh. So. Good.

I should just write that and be done with it but I am sure that you want a little more.

How about… “A Must Do”? Is that any better?

HOLY MOLY I had such a great time at The Garden City Hotel’s Chef’s Table. I was invited to attend a press event with my husband and am so glad we went because I spent a few hours chowing down on some amazing food. Yes – HOURS. One course after the other rocking my little blogger world.

It all started out with Mumm Napa. Now – if you know me you know I’m not a drinker. But this was delicious. I think I had three glasses. I highly suggest you seek it out and give it a shot… err… a sip.

The Chef’s Table experience is something that everyone can enjoy. For $150 a person, you can get a behind-the-scenes look at the inner makings of a great hotel / restaurant. The menu will be pre-determined for you BUT if you have any special requests (like you don’t eat pork… or someone in your group is vegan) they will accommodate. Just be sure to let them know ahead of time.

I was sitting next to Jamie – the Garden City Hotel’s In House PR rep – and she was vegan. All her dishes looked exactly liked the rest of the table. You could not tell there was a difference which she absolutely appreciated.  Loved that!

So here is where you sit – right next to where it all goes down. With each course, the Garden City Hotel’s chef explains the preparation, the waiter explains the wine pairing and then off you go!

We had about 16 people attending this chef’s table… but the hotel prefers a reservation to be more around 10 (give or take a couple).

I went in with the intention of taking a photo of every single dish presented that night during the Garden City Hotel’s Chef’s Table… but that didn’t happen. It was all so good that I devoured most before thinking! EEK! Bad blogger I know.

And then there was the Opus One serving!! Again I’m not a big drinker – but most were levitating in their seats when the bottle was presented.  In case you are a wine fanatic, we had a glass from Opus One, Napa CA 2003.

Main course. Nom. Nom.

And then dessert! Come – ON. I was SO HAPPY by the end of this meal. I’m going to grab 4 couples I know and head back to the Garden City Hotel for our very own Chef’s Table presentation. Special occasion or a Friday night date night with friends — this promises to be one FUN and DELICIOUS night out.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without the obligatory ham photo. Here’s Bill hanging out with the head chef and waiter right before we left.
