Field Report: Custo Barcelona SS14 Runway Show #nyfw #mbfw
The Custo Barcelona show is a hot ticket, so I was excited to see the Spring 2014 collection. The models sparkled and shined as they walked down the runway at a brisk pace. The looks for both men and women were beautiful, unique, and dramatic.
The Tribal prints and shiny lurex graphics were the kind of conversation pieces Custo is known for, now taken to a new level of sophistication. The colors were mid tone sorbets, mixed with neutrals. They had a lightness that balanced the boldness of the prints. The silhouettes included dresses with oversized coats, mini skirts, shorts, harem pants, and midriff tops.
Swimwear was interspersed throughout the line, being used as sportswear in a playful and sophisticated way, a new and fun twist! Embossed, patterned, Venetian Lace was layered to create transparent looks in coats and tunics. The men’s jackets either paired with shorts or pants were more subdued, in soft jacquards. A favorite look, (and it wasn’t easy to choose), was a print jacket over print dress. Not many can pull this off Custo makes it seem effortless.
