Field Report: Joanna Mastroianni SS14 Runway Show #NYFW #MBFW
Ms. Mastroianni is a master of manipulating fabrics. The models looked like modern Grecian Goddesses in floor length hand beaded column gowns. The show-stopper was a tangerine gown with an arch design and low curved back. A mosaic print caftan in black and white sheer, flowed elegantly. It could be worn in San Tropez or the Hamptons, in case you’re asking. Leather and silk satin was used in a black cocktail dress with corset and bubble skirt to create volume that balances the plunging neckline. Boudoir styled pieces with feathers harkened back to 50’s style lingerie.
The Joanna Mastroianni SS14 collection left me breathless. She uses the curves and naturalism of her inspiration, Gaudi to create designs that any woman would love to wear.
As with many of the Spring 2014 collections, Ms. Mastroianni does not shy from bold color or shine. She uses it with elegance and grace. The line is contemporary and modern, with a twist of sass.
