As the American government gets ready to shut down, I’m living in a bit of a bubble here in Mexico. I took a few days off after my wedding to enjoy a work/play vacation with my new hubby at St. Regis Punta Mita in Mexico. Read about my first day here.
Today, we decided to take it easy. We wanted to just relax in the pool and soak in the beach before doing anything else. And enjoy it we did!
St. Regis Punta Mita is located close to Puerto Vallarta. It’s about 45 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta Airport and is easily accessible via bus or car. St. Regis Punta Mita is arguably one of the most luxurious resorts in this part of Mexico. I had ample reason to see why. We started our day with breakfast at the Sea Breeze Restaurant. The food was simply delicious. Breakfast lasts from 7am-12noon. I’m still astounded at the number of people that are staying at the resort. I see them at meal times but at any other times it seems completely secluded which is awesome.
I had traditional Mexican Pancakes with blueberries. The blueberries were so fresh, they burst with flavor and squirted fresh blueberry juices when I sliced into it with my fork. Needless to say, it was mouth-watering.
We then went to the infinity pool. This was my first time swimming in an infinity pool and it was pretty cool. The water fell off the edge to another pool on the other side of the wall. It felt a bit like swimming in the air. The water was a perfect temperature that was cool enough to be refreshing in the warm weather but warm enough to be enjoyable.
Drinks were available at the bar.
We decided to take a dip in the ocean and found this adorable play area on the way. There are miniature chairs and tables for kids, as well as a shallow wading pool with synthetic grass. This would be tons of fun for toddlers.
We went swimming for a bit and the water in the ocean was just as perfect as the pool. We were told to stay in a certain area of the water to avoid the rocks. The water was super shallow and not too rough. This is ideal for kids to play with supervision. Butlers were ever present to take orders for snacks and drinks. We ordered some beers, guacamole, salsa and chips. Nothing quite makes food taste better than perfect weather and a beach.
We then went back to our rooms and napped. Relaxing is a ton of hard work. Trust me.
For dinner, we drove about 10 minutes into the town of Punta Mita and decided to eat at Si Senor, a local restaurant on the beach.
Opposite the restaurant was this view of some boats that were docked for the day. Apparently, local fishermen go out all day and bring their catch into the restaurants in the evening.

The prices were somewhat reasonable.
The chef showed us the catch from that day to choose from. There were lobsters and tuna fish.
I chose the Catch Of the Day (do you see a trend here?) with potatoes and jasmine rice.
My hubby had stuffed chile peppers. He chose the cheese option with Mexican rice.
Dinner was delicious! Eating it on the shore of the beach only made it better. It was so delightful!
Tomorrow, we’re planning on exploring the resort a bit more and venturing into town during the day.
