Daily Diary: Had A Blast Judging The Simon Fashion Now Design Wars #sfnroosevelt
What a fun day! Yesterday I was asked to judge the Simon Fashion Now Design Wars – the kick off event to Roosevelt Field Mall’s two day public fashion event. I am SO EXCITED that I know about this function because I will never miss it from here on out. It was so much FUN!
I am lucky enough to attend fashion week on a regular basis, but if you can’t swing a ticket to the real deal, consider attending one of these Simon Mall functions. Not only are they LOCAL (you know I love that) but all the fashion that walks the runway are in stores now which means no waiting a season out to indulge. It’s like window shopping with live models!
Design Wars was really FUN. College students from Nassau Community College showed off the creations they came up with while remaining within their $125 budget. I joined two other judges on the panel and we sat back and enjoyed their creativity. These men and women were so young and filled with so much talent. It was SUCH a pleasure!
The crowd loved the show. Winners got to take home Simon Mall gift cards which you KNOW they enjoyed and I got to have a wonderful afternoon out. You can’t beat that combination. (Grand Prize winner: top right of this image showcased a mixed media dress with lots of detail. Fab design)
My husband snuck a photo of me taking a photo of the model. It’s like a photo taking a photo of a … well, you get it.
That evening I returned with my husband and friends and we enjoyed the VIP cocktail party while more fashion shows took place in the main court. The mall was PACKED and with good reason. Brands like Bloomingdales, C Wonder, and more hit the stage and showed off their top looks.
Thank you to Simon Malls and to Roosevelt Field for allowing me to take part in this event. I’ve been having a lot of fun blogging for my local mall and acting as their Style Setter for the year. I hope this relationship continues for years to come!
