MomtrendsMomtrends, a go-to website to learn how to be a more fashionable, savvy mom,  hosted a travel themed event at Butterfly Studio, NYC.

Upon arrival, each guest was whisked away to a salon chair to have professional hairstylists from Butterfly Studio create a personalized trendy, quick hairstyle. I’ve been trying to create this sort of casual side chignon for months and now I know the secret is dry shampoo and a little hair pulling trick!

There was great local farm fresh ice cream to sample from Adirondack Creamery. I limited myself to only one taste but it wasn’t easy! Luckily, they had a handy list of all their NYC locations and one just happens to be my local supermarket.

The folks from Trunki (you know those awesome ride-on suitcases for kids?) were there showing off their newest product, a water resistant backpack for kids called the Paddlepak. They come in the shape of fish, lobsters, crabs, frogs, whales. I clowned around a bit with a clownfish one. My son was delighted to receive one on my return home and promptly asked if he could wear it in the bathtub.

Some very brave mamas gave us a fashion show to demonstrate their swimsuit makeover courtesy of Miracle Suit, the swimsuit that makes you look ten pounds thinner in ten seconds. And guess what, it did! I love how some of the styles have a retro feel to them.

Travel gear for baby was also on display. BOB debuted a new stroller, the BOB Revolution Pro. It has an adjustable handle, folds extremely easily and has a front wheel that can swivel or lock. Apparently, it is excellent for gliding through sand as you run on the beach. (Though I fear that if I ever get to a beach again, all I’ll want to do is lay down and sip margaritas!) I was happy to hear it can hold up to 70 pounds. My son is huge for his age and doesn’t use the stroller much anymore. But I would still like to go running with kid in tow and this sounds perfect!

And to top off the evening, I won the raffle for a car seat package from Britax. It came with their Travel Cart, an item I’ve been coveting for air travel. It eliminates the need for a stroller in the airport. You can just pull your child along in the car seat!

After this evening, I’m inspired to plan a vacation ASAP. I’ll have great hair, look ten pounds thinner, jog through the sand and roll my son through the airport in style! Anyone have an island for rent?
