The Makeup Show NYC is here! Every year I look forward to the show for so many reasons. Some of the hottest brands debut new products here and I always discover new brands to love. The actual show is today and tomorrow (May 4th and 5th) at the Metropolitan Pavilion. This was the 9th year that The Makeup Show held a blogger preview event hosted by The Makeup Show’s Director of Artistry and Education, James Vincent and, as always, he kept it entertaining. James gave us a sneak peek at his favorite products this year. I picked a few that I can’t wait to try and some that are already my favorites.

James walked us through the first ever Icon Gallery featuring never-before-seen pieces from the life of Kevyn Aucoin, renowned makeup artist who sadly passed away. Here are some of the images that jumped out at me.

Now, the makeup….

Every woman owns a few eye pencils. James brought us 2 of his favorites for your eyes and your brows.  He shared the Gorgeous Liquid Eye Pencil in Carbon Black and Young Blood’s Brow Artist Sculpting Pencil. I tried the eye pencil and it goes on almost like a liquid but without the mess and drying time of a liquid. It’s also incredibly deep black, just the way I like it. In contrast, the brow pencil is light and doesn’t go on in a hard line. It blends with the eyebrow seamlessly. I love that the other side is a brush for your brows. Young Blood was smart to bring out this brow pencil. Eyebrows are having a moment and I am always on the lookout for a good brow pencil that fills in the spaces without looking like I drew it on.

I picked out a few items that I cannot wait to delve into and test out.cant wait to try (Copy)

Firstly, let’s talk about Nars’ Contour Blush. I’ll be the first to admit that I love natural contouring. It’s so hard to get just the right shade, though. Nars makes it super easy with this compact. At $42, this is worth the investment.

Next up is Graftobian’s Banana Cream Pie Luxe Cashmere Setting Powder. Say what you will about Kim Kardashian but her makeup has incredible staying power. Graftobian upped the ante with this setting powder. It claims to give the same staying strength without that cakey reality show look. If you want that lit-from-within look, this seems to be your guy. I can’t wait to test it out for a full day.

I don’t clean my brushes nearly as often as I should. There, I said it. That’s about to change with Parian Spirit Professional Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dante Makeup Brush Cleanser. The Dante cleanser is odorless and colorless while the Parian Cleaner contains citrus based spirits. Parian products are environmentally friendly, which I LOVE. Take your pick. Both are sure to clean your brushes in a rush.

Lastly, Eve Pearl’s Invisible Finish Powderless Powder definitely made my list. I’m game for anything that promises to lower the shine and create a matte finish. This is also ideal for sensitive skin and can be applied before or after foundation. I love a product that gives me options.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is one of my favorite brands because their products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free while bringing fabulous results. I used them in a show last week and they were perfection. Believe it or not, this black and white compact is a lip balm duo. It’s their Tarred + Feathered Lip Balm Duo. Leave it to OCC to help you bring out your inner goth. And peek their stained glosses in Hedonist and Nomad. I always fall in love with the colors they use and how highly pigmented their products are.

The Makeup Show is sure to be a hit, as it always is. I had so much fun at the blogger preview event and I cannot to start trying the products out and telling you guys how they do.
