Pilgrim Hat Cookies: Perfect For Thanksgiving

Pilgrim Hat Cookies are such a fun activity to do with the kids during the Thanksgiving holiday. Not only do they give you a chance to talk about American history, but this Thanksgiving dessert also affords you the opportunity to play with chocolate!

Pilgrim Hat Cookies

Honestly, this is my kinda magic: Simple. You only need a handful of ingredients to get started. Your kids can actually take this craft and run with it on their own if they have steady hands.

With Pilgrim Hat Cookies, it’s really about assembling. As a parent, you can show them one finished product – soup to nuts – and then let your little ones run wild!

Ingredients For Pilgrim Hat Cookies

  • Fudge Stripe Cookies
  • Reese’s miniature peanut butter cups, unwrapped
  • Butter Cream frosting
  • Food Coloring

Directions:

how to make Pilgrim Hat Cookies

Mix the food coloring into your frosting to create your preferred orange color. Now, spoon the frosting into your piping bag.

Use the smallest round decorating tip, or cut a very small hole into the edge of the bag. Place Fudge Stripe Cookies upside down, so the chocolate side is facing up.

assemble Pilgrim Hat Cookies

Pipe a small square on the front of the Reese’s cup. Flip it upside down and pipe a generous amount of frosting around the edges. Place the Reese’s cup (frosting side down) in the middle of the Fudge Stripe Cookie. Frosting should spillover, but touch up as needed.

How simple! I hope you enjoy this easy Thanksgiving treat for kids! Perfect to bring to school to share with friends or to share with family on the big day.
