Hallmark brought a bit of Santa’s magic to Times Square with their Northpole Communication Station. On a less brisky day that this one, Hallmark set up shop in the middle of the busiest area in New York to connect kids to real-life elves. Kids huddled around the communication station to engage in a conversation with an elf. If you’ve ever wondered about the magic of Christmas, you should have seen the faces of the kids, as they told the elves what they wanted for Christmas and what life in New York is like compared with the Northpole. I chatted with one elf who told me that she has 3 little elves, who were running around after elf school, making a mess of everything. She said they were helping in Santa’s workshop to get the toys ready for Christmas Day. She told me it was very cold and asked me about the weather in New York. I told her it wasn’t too bad. She told me that Santa was getting everything together for an amazingly mystical holiday season. Then, she told me she had to get back to her little elves. It was really delightful, even for me, as an adult. Santa is real, right?
Hallmark also released some toys that will connect kids with Santa, no matter their location. There’s the Find Me, Santa! Snowflake that lights up. Kids can place this in their windows no matter if they are in a hotel or at Grandma’s house. That way, Santa can see they are inside. There’s also their very own Northpole Communicator Interactive Microphone so kids can talk to Santa’s elves daily from the North Pole. There’s a great selection of your classic mugs for adults.
