82% Of Girls Learn To Care About Themselves From Their Mother #LoveYourHair @Dove

natalie

I love my little girl. Natalie is my little princess – my mini me – my first born. So, it’s safe to say that I know what she’s going through as a teen. After all, it wasn’t so long ago that I was shuffling through those same struggles. Ok, maybe it’s been a few decades… but who is counting?

What do women do to ourselves?

We judge.

We nit pick.

We criticize.

We ask too much.

We think we are never enough.

It’s time to break that cycle.

Dove Hair wants to do its part. That’s why they have launched the #LoveYourHair campaign and are urging moms –  like you – to inspire their daughter’s to love their hair by creating a custom #LoveYourHair animated message on Dove.com.

It’s so easy to do!

First, upload a photo of you and your girl. This was so fun to do because it gave me an excuse to look through my photo stream on my photo. So many wonderful memories stored that I never get to see! I feel like all we do is snap photos these days! We never really do anything with them though, right? Well – here’s your chance!!

Choose a descriptive word you’d like to use like strong, beautiful, wild, long… you catch my drift.

Then, you can personalize a special message just for your daughter. You can send the note via email, share it through social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter or download a hard copy to keep. The animated gif is just too cute!

There is a narrow depiction of what “beautiful hair” is traditionally thought to look like and earlier this year, Dove Hair found that 8 in 10 women feel pressure to wear their hair a certain way. For many, these pressures began at an early age. Dove Hair believes a positive role model can greatly impact a girl’s confidence. In fact, a recent Dove study found that 82% of girls learn to care about themselves from their mother. If there is anything we have to teach our daughters, it is to love themselves wholly and completely. It is to not judge themselves and to always remain kind when looking inward.

Vera you are so beautiful and your daughter takes after you. This is so important - I have three girls and I try to teach them about caring for themselves. It builds their confidence and helps them be happy healthy humans. Thanks for this great read.

I actually learn to care about myself from my Dad. We'd go on these little daddy-daughter dates. He would teach me about self-love, respect, and relationships. My mom taught me about ambition and being self sufficient. Amazing parents they are.

How awesome! I love Dove so much. I always try to only allow my daughter to hear me say things positively about myself so she'll feel the same about herself.

I Absolutly love this and love that dove is doing something like this to! It is a very important message to send to our girls, they are pulled down about so many things this day and age so I think them learning to love the hair will give them that bit of boost and confidence and make a start in them learning to love the way they are despite what others say. I always try to make sure my hair is done and looking nice and I hope that helps my girls and they follow to, we help each other do different styles and chat about what we can do next with our hair X
