It happened. I crossed over to the other side. I morphed into something greater, stronger, wiser. Ah, just kidding. It’s just little ol’ me doing the same ol’ thing. Oddly enough, my 40th was the least festive birthday yet. It’s like I woke up expecting dinosaurs and alien invasions… and instead got a Starbucks and some chilly weather. Wait, what? That’s not what the movies told me to expect.
But I survived it and am a better person because of it. My entire family went out to eat together on Saturday. My mother showed off her new purple hair. My younger cousin showed off some fabulous curls and I sort of marinaded in it all.
Spain was amazing, but this was exactly how I wanted to spend my birthday. With my loved ones… eating fondue.
Of course, you know that Bill and I celebrate the same birthday. So, we celebrated together – exactly how I hope to spend the rest of my life. God gave me a great man to call my own. Even if he steals my thunder every year on my big day… 🙂
This weekend, Monday hit me like a ton of bricks. Back to work. Back to the basics. Back to reality. I think I gained 5 pounds this month OMG SOMEONE STOP ME. Starting with dinner tonight, it’s all going to be dry chicken, boring rice, and steamed veggies – until I am back to normal. My children cannot WAIT. LOL!
