DIY First Words Book

While researching children activities on the web I found this great DIY project for mom that I really wanted to share.   This will also make a great birthday gift.

The project- creating your child’s first word book.  Sara of Party Perfect made a First Word Book for her son by using a camera, scrabble letters found at a vintage store, toys and people that are familiar to him and her MAC.

Here is what she did

Step 1  Collect items that are familiar to your child whether it’s pets, clothes, parents, or food and use your scrabble letters to build words for the item.

Step 2  Take pictures of these items against a white backdrop.

Step 3  Load them on iphoto if you have a Mac or use blurb which is a free bookmaking software site.

Now you have made your baby’s First Word Book that will have meaning and help him/her associate the words with pictures that are truly familiar.  This DIY can be made under $40 which is well worth the price for something that will last a lifetime.

Real Food For Mother And Baby By Nina Planck

Real Food For Mother And Baby By Nina Planck

The product: Real Food for Mother and Baby

Why we love it: Nina Planck wants women to relax, breath and eat what they want but in a healthy, whole foods manner. She states that the food we digest during pregnancy aides in the development of the baby in three acts; first trimester-you need micronutrients, second trimester- you need protein and calcium, third trimester the baby needs fat—lots of fat for the brain. Even though it’s a fertility ‘diet’ book, diet is used loosely to describe whole grains, organic produce and fruits/veggies. This book is a way to feed your body and baby the foods it needs to grow healthy and strong.
