INO Has Brunch With Sarah Jessica Parker

Blogger Group 2(My writer Samantha is the one on the far right. Standing between SJP and Samantha is my good friend Yuli.)

Sarah Jessica Parker is no stranger to launching affordable yet luxurious fragrances, but until now we have not had the essence of SJP, Sex and the City’s beloved Carrie Bradshaw, and New York City represented into one fun and delightful scent. The newest fragrance by Sarah Jessica Parker, SJP:NYC, celebrates a youthful spirit inspired by Carrie Bradshaw and the endless possibilities that New York City offers. The fragrance is fruity and brings in the spirit of summer in the City a little early for us to enjoy.

Hosted by Elle magazine’s own Creative Director, Joe Zee, I was invited to attend a beautiful brunch in NYC’s Greenwich Village with Sarah Jessica Parker herself. Not only is SJP absolutely adorable in person, but when you are with her, you feel you are in the presence of a kind-hearted and unpretentious person who is not in a rush to be anywhere else. SJP spent a good portion of her afternoon talking myself and other writers in an intimate setting about her new fragrance, Carrie Bradshaw, and of course, fashion. SJP:NYC is encased in a removable canister that is inspired by the fabrics and patterns of Carrie’s wardrobe, so even when you run out of the perfume, you can still carry around the spirit of the perfume for functional purposes such as holding change or miscellaneous knick-knacks.

“I wanted to create a fragrance with a great sense of fun and whimsy,” is how Sarah Jessica described her latest fashion must-have. The youthful fragrance comes at an affordable price of $35 for 1 oz. and $49 for 2 oz. of her Eau de Toilette and is currently available exclusively at Macy*s. You can also get the body lotion to accompany the frangrance, and beginning in this May (just in time for “Sex and the City 2″), SJP:NYC will be launching a unique, beautiful and functional accessory: the solid perfume bracelet for just $35.

As the scent captures Carrie Bradshaw in a bottle, it is no wonder that the ads for this line exhibit Sarah Jessica Parker in a fun and fearless Oscar de la Renta dress paired with some ferocious Christian Louboutin shoes. Take a peek at the video clip above to catch some of the chic and vibrant energy behind the fragrance. You can also check out SJP talking to us about the making of the fragrance in the Vado pocket camera clip above.

Ted Allen Teams Up With StarKist To Promote Delicious Tuna Creation Recipes

ted0allen-tuna3

StarKist hosted a dinner and cocktails party with Ted Allen to talk about his delicious Tuna Creation recipes and I was converted. Previously a major non-fan of tuna, I typically avoid it. To me, tuna is as interesting as tap water. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that at a StarKist party since StarKist is known as America’s favorite tuna and they are dedicated to making it as exciting and yummy as possible. LOL!

They partnered with food connoisseur, Ted Allen, who was on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and now hosts two prime-time series on Food Network: Chopped, a culinary competition in which four chefs try to win $10,000 by cooking their way through three courses and Food Detectives, where scientific experiments are done to test myths about food.

A fellow native of Brooklyn, I was instantly a huge Ted Allen fan. He demonstrated how to quickly prepare the Think Tuna Pasta Entree, which is tuna, seasoned with herb and garlic with pasta, cherry tomatoes and basil vinaigrette. And I tried it. And now I’m a fan.

Simple story. It was divine. The tuna wasn’t at all blah. It was seasoned lightly, not fishy in the least and was complemented nicely by the basil vinaigrette and tomatoes.

Another one of Ted’s recipes that I was dying to try was the Hickory Smoked Tuna/Mango Chipotle Salmon Enchiladas. It sounds so delicious. After Ted demonstrated how easy the tuna recipe could be and StarKist completed my tuna conversion with other yummy tuna delights, I got a chance to chat with him about this famous food.

What recipes would you recommend for moms that are quick and easy?

StarKist and I wanted people to think of tuna outside of the way people usually think of tuna. So I came up with these great recipes. One of them is the Hickory Smoked Tuna/Mango Chipotle Salmon Enchiladas, which is actually very nice. I also really like a pasta dish I came up with, which uses herbs and garlic, with some basil vinaigrette….mix it with some sliced cherry tomatoes…

So you’re taking tuna away from what its known for and making it into more of an entree dish.

That’s exactly what it’s about.

So what are you not obsessed with?

Well, you know, I am obsessed with food. So I guess I’m not obsessed with food.
