I heard great things about this show from last year but nothing prepared me for the extravaganza that was launched before my eyes tonight. I got to see firsthand the madness and sheer genius that is the backstage of this fashion show. A sort of organized chaos was in progress when I arrived, with models (male, female and undecided) doing last minute changes and touch-ups to their looks and designers fussing over falling flowers. The Tulips and Pansies Show: The Headdress Affair is a fashion show that pairs the best of New York fashion designers with New York’s most talented floral designers, for looks that are breathtaking. The event benefited VillageCare, a not-for-profit organization serving people living with HIV/ AIDS. At $300 a ticket, guests packed the Gotham Hall in New York expecting a grand show. Participating designers included DKNY, Betsey Johnson, Tracy Reese, Chris March (who was in attendance), Naeem Khan and Preston Bailey, to name a few. The show was amazing!! Some of the headdresses were gravity-defying, causing models to have to hold them up on their heads. Okay, enough words. Here is a video of the show. Its a bit long.
