Daily Diary: My Yoga Mama And The Impact We All Have

You’re told that when you become a parent, you will be the number one influencer in your child’s life. You hear it. You assume it. You forget about it. Then something small happens and you are reminded that you really do make a huge impact on their life.

Take yoga for example. In fact – take yoga, music and tennis. My kids are into each and every one of them because I am. Last night, we were watching television and I was talking about my Wednesday class (which I’m missing btw – BOO) and Natalie just wrapped herself up in a Yoga pose right next to me. She then plopped on the floor and showed me a few more poses that she learned while in school. I love it – so she feels like she has a connection to it.

Music too. When I practice my ukulele, she BEGS me to let her do the same. Then she whips out our iPad and puts on the piano app (we are getting a real piano – just need to ship it from my in laws) and plays along side me. It’s a beautiful thing.

When Bill and I go to the park to practice tennis, the kids want to practice too. We mold them. Truly mold them. I know I’ve known this for years, but the last few weeks have really made the thought melt in.

Lead by example, right? I suddenly have become more conscious of my actions.

How have your hobbies influenced your children?
