I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some pretty nice hotels and resorts in my day. Travel is VERY important to me and it’s something I plan on doing with my family for years and years to come.
Having said that… I have never stayed in a place like the Winvian in Connecticut. I am typically never rendered speechless upon walking into a room. However, yesterday when I was brought into my cottage… I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Absolute beauty.
Now, a little back story about me – I love trees. My bedroom is FILLED with painting after painting highlighting them during different seasons. I have a true affection for oaks in particular. The Winvian cottage I was given has an oak tree right smack in the middle of the room. It was a complete surprise because I didn’t look up any information about this spa destination prior to my arrival.
I spent two days with CHEVY on a blogger trip learning all about the new 2013 Malibu (more on that to come). The only thing I knew was that I had to drive to Connecticut to meet the group. WHAT A SURPRISE to see that the destination was this magical!
18 cottages in all – and each one of them has a different personality. There are secret societies, a camp ground, golf themes, helicopters, tree houses. I mean – you name it and it’s probably on property. Makes me want to head back and stay in them ALL.
Besides the amazing mini-house you are given, the Winvian offers so much more. Yoga classes, horseback riding, personal cooking classes, gardening, glass blowing, pottery painting – I can go on and on. What a great destination!!!
Here are some more pictures of the Charter Oak – the room I had the pleasure of getting to know this week:
I’m not going to lie – this place is pricey. It’s not your typical hotel so expect to pay a premium. But when can you say that you had a chance to sit in a helicopter and watch TV? 🙂 Talk about a once in a lifetime experience.

* GM Chevy paid for my stay at the Winvian. All opinions are my own.

Vera, What a lovely blog on Winvian, I truly appreciate the kind words and knowing that you found our property to be extraordinary. My mother, Maggie Smith, built Winvian on our old family farm and I am blessed to work here and continue the legacy for our guests. I guess female inspired design (much like the Chevy Malibu) are some of the only places where form and function truly meet well! Anyway, don't be a stranger now and I will also blast your blog out to our guests on my newsletter. Cheers,
