Fashion Friday: Maternity Clothes Vs. Your Old Wardrobe #fashionfriday

You have to do it. You just have to. There comes a point when you need to buy a few pieces of maternity clothes and give into the fact that your body is changing. I never buy too many clothes because I always end up sideways. There’s no reason to spend hundreds of dollars on an outfit when you spend a few months on bedrest.

Still – a girl needs to do what a girl needs to do. And I went shopping. The top I’m wearing above is from Destination Maternity. I spent $20 on it as it was from the sale rack. Tried to find it online and it’s not available – but I am sure your local store carries it. It’s super comfortable and can go with either stretch pants (because it’s long) or jeans.

But early on you can still wear your regular clothes too – if they are loose fitting. Not the jeans of course! I had to get maternity jeans immediately. This is baby number three after all!! But that shirt – despite it being a little snug – got me through a tea break with a friend. As long as you are covering everything that needs to be covered, you are good to go.

So big lesson – I know it’s exciting in the beginning… but work with what you have from your closet! End of second and all of your third trimester will be an entirely DIFFERENT ballgame. You will have no choice but to shop – shop – SHOP. In the meantime, stretch out your current closet and borrow from friends!
