There was no shortage of prints or colours at the the Clover Canyon Spring 2013 show! The collection was an interesting mix of classic pieces in decidedly non-traditional prints, and the results were breathtaking.
There were so many visual delights: paisley blazers with matching shorts, a floral crystal embroidered pant suit, embellished jackets and buttoned up stripe blouses were all on display hinting at what influences these fun west coast designers. Inspired by a passion for travel, the designers took the themes of road trips, classic muscle cars and Americana and applied them rather literally with this collection, which delivered some unexpected prints: a surf scene blouse and pencil skirt, a cannabis-print-meets-disco-ball blazer, a large open-road-somewhere-in-Arizona caftan, and low rider sheaths. These prints and patterns were the most special and unique prints I’ve ever seen.
The wildness of the prints could have veered into the campy territory, but the classic and tailored silhouettes of the collection provided the perfect anchor. Knee length skirts, tapered trousers, halter neck sheaths, tailored shorts, silky blouses, and smartly cut blazers let the unconventional prints stand out in a sophisticated yet fun way.
