Football is definitely a sport the whole family can enjoy. Sunday games are filled with great food, exciting plays and lots and lots of entertainment. But sometimes the kids can get a bit… bored while the parents are so preoccupied. I have a few ideas for you to check out that will be sure to keep your little ones cheering along well into overtime.
Ways To Keep Your Kids Busy On Game Day: Idea #1 Make Your Own Noise Makers
I like this craft because it was something was fun to make the day before. So, I was able to get two full days of good times out of it with my little ones. Here’s what you need:
Rice
Containers
Food Coloring or Paint
Paper
Crayons
Glue
You need to color your rice with your team colors. You can opt for either food coloring or paint. We are huge Giants fans so of course I snagged some red and blue. Mix the rice with the coloring and allow to completely dry. I used a disposable tray and placed it right next to my window.
While you are waiting, have the children create labels for their containers. They can use crayons and get a little creative. OR if you’d like, you can search online for logos and imagery from the NFL.
Once the rice is dry, you can fill the containers with your team’s colors.

Ways To Keep Your Kids Busy On Game Day: Idea #2 Pin The Pigskin For A Field Goal
If you’ve ever played “Pin the tail on the donkey” you pretty much get this game. Not much explaining needed here, right? Here’s what you need:
2 white poster boards (just in case you make a mistake with cutting)
1 brown poster board
1 white marker
Tape
Blindfold
The white marker really wasn’t my favorite. If you’d like, you could use leftover white poster board to create the mini footballs. Up to you. I think that is a better bet. Basically, create an upright on an empty wall and cut out several mini footballs. Let the children take turns attempting to get a field goal during the commercial breaks.
Ways To Keep Your Kids Busy On Game Day: Idea #3 Make Your Own “Go Team” Poster Station
Set up a place filled with arts and crafts supplies and allow your kids to make their own posters. This is the easiest project yet!! If you aren’t going to supervise, I suggest you steer clear of the paint and just stick to crayons, markers, stickers and glitter glue.
For fun, purchase wood sticks and wood glue and allow the kids to make signs that they can wave while their home team is scoring.
Of course, after all that indoor action, I’m sure your little ones will be ready to play some actual football. Open up your backdoor and let them loose! Before you know it, odds are the Dads will want to join in on the fun in an attempt to burn off some of those chicken wings they just devoured.
Football season can be a little messy. But that’s just part of the fun. Whether it’s from paint and markers or dirt and chicken wing sauce, there’s one way to combat the grime. Tide plus Febreze can handle anything these linebackers throw your way.
