Malan Breton’s Spring 2014 presentation at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was a feast for the eyes. The collection was a glamorous mix of electric color and shine anchored with black and crème. An opera singer performed in a stunning black dress with fanned out train adding to the drama in the room.

The looks for both men and women were well tailored, and unique. At first glance one might think the designs were too over-the-top to be wearable for many customers, but this is far from true.

For women there were perfectly fitted crisp blazers as well as high waist trousers, and form fitting dresses. The suits and dresses in bold reds, blues, and pinks are for the truly bold, but would be stunning mixed with black or crème for a more professional look. The men’s line, was a perfectly tailored mix of classic and Avant Garde. Mr. Breton has taken short pants for men to new “heights”. He had fun showing contrasting socks with printed silk jacquard suits.

Think Lestat meets Seville Rowe.
