Family Travel Tips: How To Cherish Those Vacation Moments While Creating Memories

My family puts up with a lot of things. I can get a little crazy at times and YES I admit that with ease. I also am always looking for an adventure and I’m not afraid to drag everyone with me.

Some people cringe at the thought of bringing their babies on an International flight. But me? I accept that challenge with open arms. After all, I used to fly across the pond every summer with my grandmother and it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Once you get used to something… you get used to it!

Family travel is a hot topic these days. A new movie starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler is hitting theatres on May 23. For someone like me who travels a LOT with her kids, this movie is certainly something I’d like to check out.

Unexpected layovers at the airport can certainly throw a wrench in your plans. But as long as you are equipped with the right tools, your family will be able to face any obstacle.

If you have a big trip that you’d like to take with your kids then I want you to read some of my below tips. We took the children to Italy two years ago and were able to take trips to the Almalfi Coast, Pompeii, Naples, and Rome without a stroller and ten thousand breakdowns.

Family Trip Tip #1 — Make it fun

While we were in Rome, we made sure the kids were still smiling. While it was very interesting for my husband and me, after awhile, all the buildings began to look the same to my little ones. So… we had a little fun and took goofy pictures. It was cute to do and a blast to look back on.

Family Trip Tip #2 — Let Your Children Keep A Journal

If they are too young to write then just let your children draw. If they see something interesting, stop and let them capture it. There is no rush when you are on an adult vacation with children. Remember that. We stopped whenever Natalie wanted to and she was so thankful for it!

Family Trip Tip #3 — Let Your Children Lead The Way

While roaming around Pompeii, we gave the kids a map and asked them where they wanted to go. They had so much fun picking out our tour route. They felt a sense of ownership to the entire day which made them want to stay longer. Bonus for us!!

Family Trip Tip #4 — Don’t Forget To Stop And Have A Treat

After a long day of walking and touring, you need to sit down and have a little gelato! When in Italy, right? Be sure to relax and reward your little ones for their hard efforts. Running around all day can be extremely tiring. An afternoon pick-me-up can go a long way.

Family Trip Tip #5 — Meet The Locals

We had the BEST time chatting with the locals. They really engaged with Natalie and Liam and truly made every meal an adventure. Be open to meeting new people no matter where you go. You never know what they might have up their sleeve!

Are you Looking for a Great Movie to See?

Here is the synopsis for Blended (Rated PG-13):

After a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.

Two amazing comedians together in one film!! Super excited about that.  The trailer is adorable — you can’t help but root for these two to get together in the end.

What do you think? Interested in seeing Blended when it comes out on May 23? I have a feeling you might be in the market for a feel good movie right about now!!!
